Representing Foundry artists at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2025
Leading a team of local artists and businesses, Callie Whelan Leed’s innovative show garden design attracts an environmentally-conscious consumer searching for achievable garden solutions using local and Australian made products. Along with a focus on sustainability, the garden’s design features a clever reuse of items that would otherwise be wasted.
Callie showcases creative ideas explored in building her own xeriscaped garden to the broader MIFGS community. Her design includes strong architectural plants blended with quirky and usual specimens suitable for the local climate. Some of the plant varieties featured are newly developed hybrids that were being seen by the MIFGS audience for the first time.
The garden incorporated several locally-made artisan creations by Foundry artists including Kate Shone, Jill Hermans, Elisabeth Scott, CLeed, Cindy Tong, Wendy Reeve, Pauline Crunden, Deanne Howlett, Andrea Hall and Sam Thomas. Artists activated the space throughout the show, with live demonstrations of their arts practice, offering an interactive experience that helped connect artists with new audiences.
